Thakali pachadi chettinad style

Ingredients

Tomato – 3
Onion -2
Green chili – 4
Moong dal/Toor dal – ½ cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4tsp
Pepper powder – 1/2tsp
Salt – as needed
Water – 1cup

Temper:

Oil – 1tbsp
Mustared seeds- 1tsp
Urad dal – 1tsp
Curry leaves-few

Method

Cook Moong dal in 2.5 cups water, turmeric powder, in the pressure cooker for 5-6 whistles on medium flame.  Moong dal should become soft and mushy


Heat aKadai


Heat in oil , add mustard seeds.


Add Urad dal


Add curry leaves


Now add the green chilli, and onions and cook, till the onions becomes soft.


Like this


Add tomatoes


Saute the tomatoes till they become mushy


Add Turmeric powder


Add Salt


Add 1 cup water. Mix well


Boil them


Add cooked Moong dal


Mix well


Add pepper powder. Mix well


Till it gets the right consistency


Ready to serve cooked rice with ghee
